Azure

Much like AWS, Azure offers several support plans tailored to specific needs and costs. 

  • Basic support. Access to online self-help tools, Azure Advisor recommendations, and billing and subscription assistance are all provided at no cost to all Azure users.
  • Developer support costs $29 per month and gives access to technical help and best practice guidelines during business hours. The usual response time is eight business hours.
  • Standard support requires a monthly fee of $100 and provides quicker response times (from eight hours to an hour, depending on the case severity), proactive advice, and round-the-clock technical help for all severities. 
  • Professional direct support includes high priority and a committed support staff, a pool of ProDirect delivery managers. The response times are the same as with standard support. This support tier also features professional training – webinars led by Azure experts. The fee is $1000 per month.

GCP 

Google Cloud Platform (GCP) offers the following tiers in its customer care portfolio. 

All Google Cloud customers have access to Basic Support – it includes documentation, community forums, Cloud Billing Support, and Active Assist recommendations. 

In addition, there are three paid tiers to consider

1/ Standard Support. Best for workloads in development, this tier provides unlimited tech support for troubleshooting, testing, and exploration. The minimum spend is $29 or 3% of monthly Cloud charges, whichever is higher. 

2/ Enhanced Support. Built for production workloads with fast response times and reliable support, plus extra services for a smooth experience. Users are expected to pay at least $100 or 10% of monthly Cloud charges for the first $0 to $10K and onwards. 

3/ Premium Support. Enterprise-grade support with rapid response, Customer Aware Support, and dedicated technical and account management. This tier comes with a minimum spend of $15,000 or 10% of monthly Cloud charges for the first $0 – $150K and onwards.

Free tiers

If you have never used the cloud before, you may want to start with a free tier. Thankfully, you may investigate and build initial ideas without paying any upfront costs because each of the platforms we look at in this article offers one. These free tiers usually consist of a mix of services that are always free with use restrictions and services that are offered for a short period (often 12 months).

For instance, AWS Activate provides categories of grants: $1,000 in credits and training for businesses that are self-funded, and up to $100,000 in credits and premium support for initiatives that are backed by venture capital. 

Azure for Startups offers up to $150,000 in credits spread over two years, as well as technical advice and access to GitHub Enterprise. 

Similarly, Google Cloud for Startups provides credits up to $200,000 (with up to $350,000 for AI startups) and two years of technical assistance in addition to credits for Google Workspace.

AI products

AWS has created a global network of Availability Zones (or AZs). It can provide industry-leading speed and resilience because of its extensive reach. Clients are able to deploy apps in any location that best suits their end customers. 

Azure has been growing the number of its AZs too, with its data centers dispersed over 140 countries. Microsoft keeps making substantial investments to broaden Azure’s reach.
