Custom MCP Server for Agent-Ready Fintech API Integration

Challenge

A fintech company providing banking infrastructure — card issuance, payment processing, transaction management, FX operations, Google Pay and Apple Pay integrations — serves banks, neobanks, and fintech startups building on top of their APIs.

As the client base grew, so did a recurring bottleneck: developers kept running into the same integration friction: which endpoints to use, how to sequence operations, how to handle edge cases. Without a fast path to answers, everything was routed to support.

The documentation existed, but it wasn’t accessible to the tools doing the work.

What we built

We designed and developed a custom MCP server that exposes the platform’s API layer and documentation as a controlled, permission-aware knowledge source for MCP-compatible clients such as Claude, Cursor, and other AI coding environments.

The server implements a clear separation between read-only tools for endpoint discovery and integration guidance, and action tools for sandbox operations, with production write access requiring explicit authorization and additional guardrails. All access controls, validation, and audit mechanisms are implemented in line with MCP specification security requirements.

Touchlane handled the full scope: API analysis, MCP architecture, tool and resource implementation, authentication layer, and deployment configuration for approved client environments.

Result

Integration questions that previously generated support tickets now resolve at the agent level. Client developers work faster and more independently. The platform gains a presence in the AI-native development layer its clients already operate in, with no changes to the underlying APIs or client-side infrastructure.
